The past few weeks have been super busy for us, but most of it was fun! First, my baby niece was born, we celebrated Landon’s 30th birthday, Brynlee and I went on a few adventures, celebrated my 31st birthday and spent lots of time with family and friends! I love with life gives me seasons of this kind of busy, it makes the not so fun busy times worth it.
Today, I want to share one of mine and Brynlee’s adventures, we met up with my mom, sister and her kids and spent the day at the SeaLife Aquarium. I must admit, I’ve lived here for over 10 years now and I had no idea about this aquarium until a couple of months ago… Granted, I think it’s only been open for a few years, but nonetheless, I had no idea about it! It’s located in Arizona Mills Mall, and isn’t the largest aquarium ever, but it was perfect for a couple of toddlers.
*I need to apologize in advance for the poor picture quality, the lighting in the aquarium was horrible.*
It took us about 2 hours to get through the whole thing and I’m pretty sure Brynlee loved every minute of it! She was kind of grumpy when at first, but as soon as we walked in and saw the first fish tank, it was smiles from there on out!
She loved seeing all of the fish and putting her face right up to the glass.
Some areas had a bubble hole that you could stick your head in so the fish were all around you and these were by far Brynlee’s favorite!
In the first room we found one I had a hard time getting her to leave. The fish tank surrounded the entire perimeter of this circular room and all of the fish were swimming so fast around the tank, it was pretty mesmerizing for our little girls to witness, I’m pretty sure they would have stayed there all day if we let them.
The girls also had the opportunity to pet some sea stars and we got to watch them feed some of the underwater critters while they told us about them.
It had tunnels to crawl through and one large tunnel that took you right through the center of an aquarium, even the floor was glass which meant that Brynlee was basically glued to the floor.
*There were some tears when I made her leave this tunnel, it wasn’t too long before she was distracted by another fish tank though.
At the end of the aquarium, they had one of those interactive projectors that projected water on the floor and would ripple wherever you walked on it. I think I might need to get one of these for my house because it provided a lot of entertainment and had we not made the girls leave it, I think they would have happily played on it for an hour!
*I think the girls thought they were swimming.
Once you walked out of the aquarium portion, they had a large room with a big jungle gym for the kids to play in. The girls had so much fun climbing around and going down the slide, it was definitely a great way to tire them out.
After the aquarium we had lunch at the food court and Brynlee was passed out in her car seat before I ever left the parking lot. All in all a pretty successful day!
