After spending so much time leading up to Brynlee’s birthday party being busy planning and prepping everything, once it was over I found it a little difficult to get back to our normal routine. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that it took me nearly a week to get my house back in order, I just couldn’t find the motivation. But I am happy to report that we have finally returned to business as usual around here!
Over the weekend Brynlee and I (Landon had to work :() headed up north to spend some time and my mom’s and to celebrate my nephew Parker’s 1st birthday! You may remember that Parker is our little miracle baby and it was just so wonderful to celebrate his first year!
While lots of party prep was going on inside, we decided to get the pool out for the girls to have fun outside! I was hoping that this would tire Brynlee out so she would take a nap before the party… no such luck, you’d think I’d know better by now wouldn’t you?
Brynlee also had to take a ride in the swing, she would probably be content to stay in there all day if I let her. I kind of thought the swing would lull her to sleep, but that was a no go too.
A huge, but quick, storm blew through during the party cooling it down and making it absolutely beautiful outside, so after everyone left we jumped on the chance to spend the rest of the evening outdoors.
My mom has 3 horses and Brynlee loves them!
Of course, not as much as she loves Grandma!
She had so much fun helping Grandma and Grandpa feed the horses and loved when they held her up to pet them.
After a very long, very busy day with no nap our nighttime didn’t exactly go smoothly. Brynlee has never been a great sleeper away from home, but this time was one for the record books. She screamed and cried basically all night long. I would guess that total time we probably got about 3 hours of sleep and I think that is being pretty generous. Needless to say that I was one tired mama that next day and decided to cancel our plans to meet up with friends and just head home to hopefully get some sleep. Of course Brynlee slept the entire 2 hour drive home, so while she wasn’t exactly energetic, she pretty much just relaxed on the couch, she also wasn’t ready to go take a nap when we got home, which also meant no nap for mama. Let’s just say that when daddy finally got home we were thrilled and I went to bed at 7:30 that night and it was glorious!
We’ll be heading back up north over the 4th, so wish us luck! I don’t know if I can survive another night like that!
