Brynlee received her her first puzzle for Christmas last year and has been hooked ever since. She loves figuring out how all of the pieces fit together and it wasn’t long before we started building her puzzle stash to be a bit more challenging for her. Today I thought it would be fun to list some of our favorites.
I really love the quality of the wood puzzles from Hape and Melissa and Doug, she’s still a little rough with the pieces, but I’m always on the lookout for ones I think she will like.
Melissa and Doug Pets Wood Chunky Puzzle– Brynlee received this one the same Christmas as her shape puzzle, the chunky pieces were easy for her to hold and it was great in teaching her animals and their sounds.
Mickey Mouse Puzzle– And of course when we saw this one we had to snatch it up, she likes to play with the pieces like figurines too, she’ll stand them up and move them around the table saying their names.
Melissa and Doug Zoo Sounds Puzzle– I got her this one shortly after I got our zoo membership, its been fun teaching her the different animals so she’ll recognize them when we can finally start going back to the zoo once it cools down a little here.
Hape Alphabet Puzzle– We got her this one when she was 19 months old and it took her a while to get the hang of this puzzle, now she’s a pro and this has been wonderful in teaching her the alphabet. Once she puts them all back we always have to sing the ABC’s and point to each letter.
Melissa and Doug 12 pc Puzzle-We got her this one at the same time as her alphabet puzzle and it was difficult for her at first too, but the challenge was really good for her and she would want to do the puzzle over and over (with our help) until she was finally able to get all of the pieces herself. While it wasn’t so fun for us to do the same 12 pc puzzle 15 times in a row, we really loved seeing how she responded to the challenge and was determined to master it.
Melissa and Doug 24 pc Puzzle– And so, for her 2nd birthday we went ahead and bumped her up to some 24 pc puzzles.
Melissa and Doug Pattern Blocks– She also got this one for her 2nd birthday and it has been really helpful in teaching her shapes and colors.
She’s to the point where she can do all of these without our help now, but she still plays with them often and they keep her really entertained. We try to keep them all together and she will do them one by one, keeping her entertained for a good 15 minutes, which is priceless, as all you toddler moms know.
Happy Friday, I hope you all have fantastic weekends!!!
