The Holiday Haven Dress in Aquamarine

Did you see the newest color in our Holiday dress hit the shop this weekend?E1

I have to say that I absolutely love this blue! It photographs quite a bit lighter than it is in person, but it is the most gorgeous deep blue/green color.

And the silver lace accents are perfection!

So beautiful!

Hurry over to the shop to get it before they’re gone!

Life Lately

Hey there! I’m back and I’ve missed you guys! Things have been pretty hectic around here with the relaunch of The Blissfully Made Shop, then Brynlee and I got horrible colds and Brynlee has been randomly deciding she doesnt need naps certain days (those are rough), so we really haven’t had time for much else. Hopefully things will start calming down a bit and we can get back into our normal routine, but with the holidays coming now who knows!

Since pretty much every weekend from here until New Years is packed full of holiday festivities, we decided that this weekend needed to be spent getting some stuff done around the house.

I finally got around to doing some much needed canning! We picked over 30 pounds of tomatoes from our garden throughout the summer!

I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve made it a habit to blanch, peel, dice and freeze our tomatoes each time we pick a batch. This way I can just do one big batch of canning at the end of the season instead of a bunch of little ones and having everything already prepped it goes a lot quicker!

I used this recipe for pasta sauce and it is delicious!! We definitely popped open a jar for dinner that night and it did not disappoint.  Pretty sure I will be making this recipe every year with our tomatoes.

I also went ahead and made some strawberry jam using Ree’s recipe. I’ve made this recipe multiple times, its super easy and the jam is so yummy!

We don’t grow our own strawberries, although I’d like to try sometime. So anytime the store runs a sale on organic strawberries, I buy 5-10 clam-shells and immediately come home to hull, dice, mash and freeze them so they are all prepped for canning day.

Do you see a pattern developing here? While I have canned food from start to finish before, I much prefer the method of prepping and freezing everything ahead of time, then planning one canning day or weekend and getting through everything. To me it seems like much less work and is really the only way I can make sure to get it done now that I have Brynlee constantly vying for my attention.

We also did some work in our backyard and picked all of our lemons. Our poor tree was so full and looking pretty droopy from all the weight so we also trimmed up a few of the especially droopy branches and it now looks much happier!

This little girl loved picking the lemons! She’s been trying to pick them all year and was so excited to finally being told she could!

She was actually a really big help! I love being able to include her in things like this now, she has a lot of fun and so do we!

Oh and my roses are blooming like crazy right now! I cut them way down a couple of months ago and now they have come back much fuller and I can’t wait until they all start opening up!

And I finally hung (and by I, I mean my hubby) my scale/clock that I got at Junk in the Trunk a few months ago. I love it! As you can see I’m using it as my fruit bowl and I love being able to open up some counter space by having it raised. Brynlee thinks its a swing and is constantly asking for us to put her up there. I’m so thankful she can’t climb up on the counters herself yet or I might be in trouble!

We’ve also been working our way through our Christmas shopping list, every year I say I will start early so that in the last few weeks before Christmas I’m not completely stressed out and for the first time, I’ve actually managed to do it! I still have a few things to get and I’m making a few top secret presents that I will share the DIY’s to once they’ve been opened, but I feel much better about where I am on my list than I usually do! I’m hoping to get a few wrapped this week so that when we put up our tree after Thanksgiving I will actually have something to put under it! It usually sits bare until the weekend before Christmas and I always hate that!

Holiday Dresses Are Here!!!

I am so excited for this next release in the Blissfully Made Shop! This is the first dress listed as part of our special occasion line and will be the perfect holiday dress for your little girl.

The vibrant ruby red is so festive and with the sparkle tulle overlay it’s positively gorgeous!

The back detail is an absolute show stopper with beautiful gold lace finishing out the look.

With plenty of gathers, promising a full skirt and endless hours of twirling.

And a hemline that is just lovely with the tulle overlay falling slightly longer than the satin lining.

The dress is tag-less, lined and all the seams are finished for added comfort for your special little lady.

It comes in sizes 6-12M – 10 years.

More colors will be added to the shop soon, feel free to leave a comment with a color you’d like to see this dress come it. I think it would make the perfect flower girl dress if done in white or cream too.

So head over to the Blissfully Made Shop to order yours today!

Halloween Recap

Happy Halloween!

I hope you all had an amazing time, we sure did!

But before I get into our Halloween, I wanted to share that the weekend before we went to another pumpkin festival here in Gilbert, Vertuccio Farms and it was HOT!!! We didn’t stay for very long because of the heat, next year we know to get there first thing in the morning!

But, Brynlee did love feeding the goats while we were there.

And I still don’t know how we were able to get her away from this giant bounce pad. She had so much fun!

I also enrolled Brynlee in a pre-school prep class through our rec center that started last week. It’s only once a week, but she had a lot of fun and made this cute little ghost craft while she was there. I don’t know if all town recreations offer classes like these, but I would highly recommend checking into it. Ours runs 8 week long sessions every 2 months or so and there are so many different classes. This is our first, but I will be re-enrolling her next session and I plan to enroll her in a few more too.

Also last week, at Brynlee’s dance class, all of the girls dressed up. I was a little worried I wouldn’t get Brynlee in her costume, she wanted absolutely nothing to do with it prior to this and cried when I put it on her, but as soon as we were out the door and when she saw the other girls in their costumes it was all smiles. I love that her dance studio did this, it was so cute seeing all of the little girls dressed up!

Anyway, back to our Halloween.

We carved pumpkins Friday night. Landon’s is on the left, mine is on the right and Landon decided Brynlee needed one too, so he carved an Elmo for her.

Saturday morning we did a little pumpkin craft with Brynlee. I found a cute cat kit that came with everything needed to decorate a pumpkin and then bought a small fake pumpkin so we would be able to keep it.

Brynlee really loved painting the pumpkin. We did it outside on a drop cloth and it was a lot less messy than I thought it would be thanks to a case of wipes and some old rags to help contain the mess.

The only downside was waiting for the pumpkin to dry, Brynlee wanted to keep painting it and wasn’t very patient (I know, shocker).

When it was almost dry, we finally got to add the stickers.

Surprisingly, she did really well sticking them all where the were supposed to go. I love how it turned out and I’m so happy I went with a fake pumpkin so we can pull it out year after year with the rest of our decorations. I think this will be my favorite!

When it was time to get ready for Halloween, I tried painting a little nose and whiskers on Brynlee, she freaked out! I’m not sure what got into her, but she wanted nothing to do with the face paint. I wiped it off as quickly as I could, but the melt down had already started and I thought our Halloween was done! Luckily after begging, pleading and bribing with snacks I was able to get her costume on and we headed outside to let her play in the grass in hopes of boosting her mood!

And once we started going door to door trick or treating she was all smiles and had so much fun!

She loved ringing the doorbells and knocking on doors. We stopped at one house that was decorated and had all there lights on, but didn’t answer the door and Brynlee started saying “uh-oh!” and “oh no” and didn’t want to leave until someone answered.

Eventually that candy bucket got a little too heavy and she enlisted the help of daddy to carry it the rest of the night, but only between the houses, she wanted it back once we got to the door to get her candy.

As much fun as Brynlee had trick or treating, I think her favorite part of Halloween was passing out the candy. She loved grabbing the bowl and running to the door whenever the doorbell rang.

Although, you wouldn’t really know it by this face… I think this was the “I’m getting really tired, but having too much fun to admin it” face. We get those a lot around here.

And I’ll leave you with a little peek at our house Halloween night.
