Lunch Box Diaries Vol. 1

This week on Instgram stories, each day I shared what I packed in Brynlee’s lunch and for her snack at school. I received a ton of feedback and messages asking me for more details on where I got something or for more details on what I packed, so I thought I’d start a new series here in hopes of helping someone else dealing with the school lunch woes. Also, follow along on Instagram with #BMlunchboxdiaries and I’d love for you to tag me with your lunch box diaries too!

Okay, so lets get down to it:

Monday –  broccoli (I always wash and prep this over the weekend so we are prepared for the busy mornings), baby carrots and pretzels to dip in organic hummus, along with applesauce and some trail mix for a special treat. I had popped some popcorn the evening before so I saved some to send with her as a snack and it was a huge hit!

Find her lunch box here or here. It comes in a few different colors, I also have a blue one for Lincoln, we’ve had ours for over a year and it has held up great and is completely leak proof! We love them!

Tuesday – turkey and cheese on a croissant (Costco got me guys!!), organic yogurt stick, diced strawberries and blueberries, mini carrots with ranch to dip and some Pirate’s Booty. For her snack, veggie straws.

Find her lunch box here, while I do like all the compartments on this one, I’m a little nervous to test how leak proof it is as it doesn’t seem to have a tight close. I need to test it on the weekend some time. So far, I’ve just sent things that won’t leak whenever I pack this one.

Wednesday – PB&J cut into hearts (Brynlee loved this and it was so worth the extra step!) trail mix and cucumber slices. Her snack, organic graham crackers.

Her lunch box is Ziploc, I found it in store at Target, but couldn’t find it online, here is a similar one made by Up & Up. And while I can’t speak to those, the Ziploc ones have been fantastic! They come in a 2 pack for under $4 and the lid fits so tightly that you don’t have to worry about leaking.

Thursday–  Broccoli, pretzels and cucumbers with organic hummus to dip. Watermelon and freeze dried strawberries and bananas. Her snack, organic applesauce pouch.

Her lunch box is here and the silicone cup for the pretzels can be found here. These make a great divider for the larger compartments when needed.

Friday– Snap crisps, watermelon, a whole wheat pumpkin muffin, cucumber slices and organic applesauce. Her snack was a Fig Bar.

Her lunch box can be found here or here.

I also shared this picture on Instagram of our lunch prep station in one of our cabinets and got tons of questions about where things are from, so I wanted to add all the links here for anyone to refer back to.

From the top, lunch boxes are PBKids, Purple and Blue Bentgo (also here), Ziploc 3 compartment (I found them at Target for less, but wasn’t able to find them on target.com, I did find this similar one from Up & Up for the same price I paid),

I also bought pink forks and spoons for her lunches from Target to make it more fun! The square and heart food cups are great for breaking up larger compartments in the bento boxes. The napkins are all from the Target dollar bin, I pick them up whenever they go on clearance, again just something to make her lunches a little more fun.

Water Bottle- We love this PBK water bottle, it holds ice all day (which is saying something considering we’ve been under severe hear advisory for the whole first week of school). I also got the matching thermos, but haven’t had a chance to use it, it’s just been too hot!

Mini cups with lids– I purchased these on a whim at Target (again, I can’t find them on target.com, but they are next to the other food storage containers and much cheaper), but I am so glad I did! These are completely leak proof and work great for housing dips or other small snacks that you don’t want to be loose.

And lastly, not pictured are these small storage containers that I use for Brynlee’s snacks so they don’t get crushed in a plastic baggie and they have been the perfect size for a small afternoon snack.

I hope this helps with your school lunch prep and please let me know if you have any other questions about our lunches or where I got something!

Also, I’d love to know what some of your favorite lunch boxes items are, leave a comment letting me know!
