It’s been a while, but I thought I’d share a few things that I’ve been loving lately with you all today!
We joined a Gym! And it has been wonderful! I haven’t had a Gym membership since before Brynlee was born and my working out has been sparse, if not non-existent, in the last 5+ years. I have always enjoyed running, but I don’t like going by myself in the darkness of early morning and it’s too hot here to run in the afternoon when Landon gets home from work. I also tried a round of BBG, which I really liked, but Lincoln started waking up earlier and earlier, interfering with my schedule, I liked to do my workout between 5-5:30 am, which made consistency hard. Now I drop Brynlee off at school, head over to the gym and let Lincoln go play in their child care center. I must admit, we were a little nervous about leaving Lincoln in there, but after touring it and meeting the sweet people that run it I felt totally at ease. They have a movie theater room, a bounce house room, a miniature basketball court, a video game room and a large open play space filled with toys and play kitchens and train tables, all of which gets cleaned and sanitized every single night. Plus all of the cardio equipment have T.V.’s that you can turn on to watch the monitor in the child care center so you can check in on your child at any time. There are also T.V.’s on the main floor dedicated to this as well. We are also hoping this will help with Lincoln’s socialization.
Speaking of Brynlee being back in school, have you read this post yet? I still have a hard time having her gone for such a long time (why, oh why can’t they do 1/2 day Kindergarten here!?!?!?!), but I am really learning to appreciate my time to myself each day while she is at school and Lincoln is napping. It has done wonders to use that time to focus on self care each day. As much as self care is talked about being important, until you take the time to focus on it and see the changes, you really don’t realize the importance of it. I’m much more patient with my kiddos, I’ve been excited to prepare dinner each night for my family and I found a really great cleaning schedule that I do each night before bed so when I wake up, I wake up to a clean, less chaotic house instead of being stressed out trying to get everyone out the door before school. Really friends, please make sure you are taking care of yourselves too!
Oh my goodness, these Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas from Magnolia Table are life! I made them last week and am still thinking about them this week! They are so delicious and make even better leftovers! This cookbook (like everything else Joanna does) is seriously so good! I have truly loved every recipe we’ve made out of here and continue to refer to it each week as I plan my menu.
And while we are on the topic of everything Joanna touches being gold, can we take a sec to talk about the latest issue of Magnolia Journal. I seriously don’t know how she manages to do it, but I swear each issue is better than the last. Every page is filled with so much inspiration! I am making the homemade pasta recipe with Brynlee this weekend for dinner. We are also going to try out the homemade donuts and thanks to this issue I picked up this book to learn how to watercolor. Something I have been thinking about for years, but never took the steps towards it.
The Good to be Home Podcast is done by a couple from Scottsdale, AZ and it is so good! I love listening to this podcast either at the Gym, when I am cleaning or having my alone time. Their tips are so insightful, I found myself implementing a lot of them in my own life. If you like Podcast I definitely encourage you to give this one a listen.
I hope you found some new things to love and I’d love it if you shared yours in the comments below! I hope you all have an amazing weekend! See you back here on Monday for another Volume of Lunch Box Diaries!
